For the this week’s Monday Morning Motivation post, I’d like to put forward a quote that I recently saw on the Slight Edge community site. I think you’ll find that it ties in perfectly with the kaizen philosophy that I refer to often on this blog:

“It doesn’t matter how slow you go, so long as you do not stop.” – Confucius

It is obvious from this quote that Confucius had a firm grasp on the critical importance of forwarding motion – however small that motion may seem – toward your goals. Simple disciplines repeated over time … this is the core philosophy at Slight Edge and one that I personally live by daily.

A small step forward each day over an extended period of time will outperform massive, short-term effort every time.

Just:

– Take the next step

– Do the next task

– Run the next mile (or even the next 100 yards)

– Plan the next healthy meal

– Take the next class

Whatever it is that will propel you just a little bit toward the goals that are important to you, “Just do it”. Keep moving ahead. Keep moving forward.

In summary, just remember this. It is very important to stay focused on where you’re going, and leave the past behind you … especially if it has a tendency to wear you down emotionally. A positive attitude on an ongoing daily basis is critical to your success, and you must get rid of anything that drags you down. Your success, and in some cases your life, depends on it. And also … please know that you are not alone on this journey.
